Power BI Developer / BI Developer / Reporting Developer

Location: London (Hybrid 2 days onsite) or Remote (occasional London visits)
Salary: £55,000 to £75,000 + bonus + benefits (depending on sector and experience)

Role overview
• Build executive-ready dashboards and reporting products that drive commercial and operational decisions
• Sit between the business and data engineering, turning requirements into scalable analytics solutions
• Improve data quality, modelling standards, and reporting governance across teams

Key responsibilities
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and reporting suites
• Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting goals
• Translate business requirements into data models, measures, and dashboards
• Build and manage semantic models using star schema / dimensional modelling approaches
• Create advanced DAX measures, calculated tables, and Power Query transformations
• Write and optimise SQL queries for reporting and data validation
• Implement Row Level Security (RLS) and follow security and data governance practices
• Support deployment and release processes using pipelines where applicable
• Work with Data Engineers on ETL/ELT requirements and data availability
• Produce documentation including data definitions, report guidance, and release notes
• Drive adoption by running show-and-tells, training sessions, and stakeholder enablement

Core skills and experience
• Strong Power BI development experience (data modelling, DAX, Power Query, visual design)
• Solid SQL skills for querying, transformation, and performance optimisation
• Strong Excel capability (including Power Query where needed)
• Experience gathering requirements and communicating insights to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail around data accuracy, reconciliation, and quality checks

Nice to have (depending on environment)
• Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data stack, Databricks, or similar modern data platforms
• PySpark for transformation and large-scale data processing
• Git and CI/CD practices (Azure DevOps preferred)
• SAP BW or Business Objects exposure in reporting-heavy estates
• Syndicated data experience such as Nielsen or IRI in FMCG
• Fintech or lending platform MI experience (mortgage servicing, loan lifecycle, arrears, collections)
• Redshift or MySQL exposure

• Data quality checks, validation rules, and reconciliation outputs
• Release-ready reports with clear documentation and adoption support
